Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 172

Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) is the only national Vietnam veterans organization congressionally chartered and exclusively dedicated to Vietnam-era veterans and their families. Our local Chapter 172 takes seriously VVA’s goals, specifically to support the next generation of America’s war veterans and to serve our communities. Locally Chapter 172 features a Cumberland based museum that represents their story, as told in pictures, letters and through the personal collections of many of our members. Chapter members have made this display possible so that veterans, their families, educators, historians and school age children can better understand the experiences we shared and the sacrifices made by all who served in Southeast Asia. Additionally the chapter members provide support and color guard services for military events throughout the region; including playing an integral role in FSU’s Student Veterans of America induction/graduation ceremonies.

Chapter 172 established the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #172 Endowed Scholarship in support of veterans and their dependents attending Frostburg State University.
