The Hubbards have established two scholarships to help future students secure the same educational benefits that Sherry received from the faculty and staff while attending Frostburg.

Sherry (’63) will never forget the artistic ability which her twin sister exhibited at a young age. “My sister never had an opportunity to develop her art talent,” Sherry recalls. The Terry Phillips Art Award provides tuition assistance so future generations of budding artists can pursue their dreams.

The Walter and Elmira Hahn Memorial Scholarship for a Frederick county resident helps future generations attain their goals and gain confidence. The scholarship honors Sherry’s grandparents who generously funded her college education at Frostburg.

Sherry received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education at Frostburg and a master’s in education from the University of Maryland College Park. Her education helped her develop the skills needed to teach for 20 years in Baltimore County and Anne Arundel County. She later served nine years as an analyst and computer scientist for the Department of Defense.

Since retiring, Sherry has volunteered at resale boutiques to raise funds for the American Cancer Society and Partners In Care, at The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore, at Brunswick Elementary School, and at Homewood at Frederick.
