PNC Presidential Merit Scholar Award

Applicants must be enrolled full-time at FSU as a junior with a declared major in one of these departments: Accounting, Economics, Management, or Marketing & Finance. The recipient will be a senior who is expected to serve as a role model and mentor for undergraduate students. An overall grade point average of at least 3.5 is required. Applicants will be a resident of the state of Maryland or one of FSU’s contiguous counties with a preference for residents of the State of Maryland. Contiguous counties will be defined as: Bedford, Franklin, Somerset, and Fulton (PA); and Mineral, Hampshire, Berkley, Grant, Jefferson, and Morgan (WV). Preference will be given to students who have included an internship, work experience, or have demonstrated leadership and entrepreneurial pursuits as part of their educational experience. Applicants must submit an essay that includes goals and accomplishments and three letters of recommendation from a variety of sources including professors, academic advisors, internship or job supervisors, or fellow student-mentees who can attest to the applicant’s mentoring and leadership accomplishments. An interview will be required of all finalists.
