Allegany and Garrett Sportsman Association Scholarship

Recipient(s) must be a sophomore, junior or senior at Frostburg State University with a declared major in wildlife and fisheries. Applicants must demonstrate an interest in the promotion and preservation of sport hunting and fishing in the State of Maryland as shown by membership in hunting or fishing sportsman organization or holder of valid hunting and or fishing license or by method as determined by the Awards Committee to validate the same interest. Applicants must be a full-time student or accepted for enrollment with an overall grade point average of 2.5 or better. Award may be received for two consecutive years of undergraduate studies if a 2.5 or better grade point average is maintained. Preference will be given to renewal applicants. In the event of equally qualified applicants a preference will be given to those who can demonstrate an interest in the promotion and preservation of sport hunting and fishing in the State of Maryland as shown by membership in a hunting or fishing sportsman organization or holder of valid hunting and or fishing license or by method as determined by the Awards Committee to validate the same interest. First preference will be given to applicants graduating from a high school in Allegany County or Garrett County of Maryland followed by applicants who are graduates from high schools in Maryland followed by applicants who are graduates from high schools out-of-state. The recipient will be recognized as an honorary member of the Allegany and Garrett Sportsman Association and is expected to attend meetings as requested.
