Donald P. Hutchinson Endowed Scholarship

Recipients must be enrolled full-time at FSU with a declared major in education, following the pathway to the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program and majoring in their chosen secondary education field, or in the MAT program. The recipient(s) must have an overall grade point average of at least 3.0. Applicants must submit a 500-word essay on a topic specified by the Department of Educational Professions. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to teach a minimum of two years in the state of Maryland upon graduation from Frostburg State University. Preference will be given to those students who demonstrate a commitment to teach in Western Maryland (Washington, Allegany, or Garrett County). Preference will be given in the following order of importance: a.) renewal applicants who maintain a grade point average of at least 3.0; b.) graduate of a high school in Washington, Allegany, or Garrett County (MD); c.) applicants with demonstrated financial need. Need is determined by applicants’ completion of a current FAFSA form which must be submitted by published financial aid deadlines.
