Reverend George M. and Mrs. Phyllis C. Harpold Presidential Merit Scholarship in Biology

Applicants must be enrolled full-time with a major in the Department of Biology. The recipient will be a resident of Allegany or Garrett County (Maryland) with an overall grade point average of at least 3.5. Incoming freshman applicants must demonstrate strong academic achievement in high school as evidenced by enrollment in college-level and/or Advanced Placement (AP) classes. Transfer students must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5. Preference will be given to applicants in the following order of importance (1) academic ability and (2) demonstrated financial need. Applicant should include a statement that answers the following question: ‘How are you going to use your education to learn to think for yourself?’
