Joseph M. Ellis Memorial Scholarship for Volunteerism

The recipient must be at least sophomore status at FSU at the time of award. Applicants must have demonstrated through volunteerism their commitment to serving those in need in the greater Frostburg community. An overall GPA of 2.5 or better is required. Students are eligible for one year only, and this scholarship is non-renewable. In the event of equally-qualified applicants, a preference will be given to the applicant who demonstrates the most consistent volunteerism within the previous year. All applicants must complete a 500-word essay as follows: “In your opinion, what is one positive change that could be made in the greater Frostburg community purely through student volunteer efforts? Describe the actions you would take to promote this change.”
