Hattie M. Strong Foundation "Strong Scholars" Scholarship
Applicants must be enrolled full-time at FSU with a major in the Department of Educational Professions intending to pursue a career in classroom teaching. The recipient(s) will be enrolled in final semester field experience before graduation. The recipient(s) must have financial need. Recipient(s) will be selected based on the following: a) Undergraduate students who have exhibited outstanding success and enthusiasm in field experience prior to the final semester of the program or graduate Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) students whose life experiences prior to enrollment reveal the same traits. Required documentation includes: i. mentor teacher recommendation; ii. personal statement not to exceed 350 words (statement should include a brief summary of prior clinical experiences). b) Students who have achieved a minimum 3.0 GPA. The donor has requested a follow-up report including a summary of each recipient’s experiences during student teaching and their postgraduate plans.
