Zaida Pagán
A longtime resident of Allegany County, Zaida Pagán received both her BA in Spanish (1984) and her MA in Counseling Psychology (1986) from FSU. After obtaining her degrees, she taught psychology at both Allegany Community College and Potomac State. Zaida was a passionate instructor and particularly enjoyed the time she spent teaching Spanish to high school students enrolled in the Upward Bound program. She was admired by her students for her creative and dynamic teaching style.
Outside the classroom, Zaida had many diverse interests, including writing Spanish poems, discussing philosophy, collecting antiques, and growing vegetables.
Zaida believed that with guidance and support every person has the potential to succeed both inside and outside the classroom. The Zaida Pagán Memorial Scholarship is designed to enable others to share in her joy of learning.
