Family of Mary T. Slider and Western Maryland Reading Council

The family of the late Mary T. (Teddie) Slider and the Western Maryland Reading Council have established an endowed scholarship fund for students in the FSU graduate education program.
Prior to her premature death last spring at age 45, Mrs. Slider was a reading specialist in Allegany County and an activist with the Reading Council on the local, state and national level.
According to her husband, businessmen Rick Slider, “Teddie strove for perfection in an imperfect world. While seeking organization out of chaos, she applied her standards of excellence to all facets of life, and her contagious enthusiasm and determination prevailed.
“Those qualities are recognized and appreciated by all who share her desire for excellence. One way we can perpetuate Teddie’s ideals, goals and objectives is through the Teddie (Lascaris) Slider Scholarship Fund.”
