Dr. Thomas J. Palardy and Mrs. I. Maureen Palardy
Dr. Harold Winstanley was a wise, kind, inspiring educator. His wisdom was gained from a lifetime of experience as a teacher, reading specialist, principal, and superintendent. He encouraged and motivated FSU interns to do their very best for each and every child in their classroom. He worked hard every day until he died. That is how dedicated an educator he was.
For me and my husband, he was a mentor. Placing interns and supporting them as fledgling teachers is not an easy job. The intern’s future as a successful teacher is in your hands. Dr. Winstanley knew that and took great care with each intern, placing them and supporting them. My husband and I tried to emulate him as we became the placement personnel—my husband as Director of the Office of Field Experience and me as Elementary placement supervisor.
