Kramer Family

Chondrosarcoma is a very rare bone and soft tissue cancer. Treatment options are limited and there is no cure. Tragically, Chondrosarcoma took the life of one of our own at the young age of 28.

Shayna Elise Kramer was a caring, giving person who wanted to make a difference. She was a leader at Frostburg State University as the President of BURG where she worked tirelessly to encourage students to be safe and drug-free.

After graduating college, Shayna traveled to Israel and volunteered at Save a Child’s Heart. There she helped babies with heart defects recover from surgery. That experience had a profound impact on her. When Shayna returned to the United States, she was diagnosed with Chondrosarcoma. She underwent two major surgeries on her spine telling herself if those brave children in Israel can go through their ordeal, then she could do the same.

Even with cancer, Shayna worked full-time as a teacher’s aide working with three-year old children with special needs. She also volunteered with hard of hearing and blind children and took classes to get her Master’s degree in Special Education.
Shayna battled hard but lost her fight with cancer on November 14, 2019. She expressed a desire to educate the world about Chondrosarcoma so she could help others suffering from this rare deadly disease. She was always thinking about other people and never ever complained about her plight. Her caring, compassion and dedication to helping others will always be remembered.
