Adolph E. Norris

“A graduate of Flintstone High School, class of 1932, Mr. Norris was a United States Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Norris worked for the American Oil Company for 23 years prior to being the owner and president of the Petroleum Equipment Company, Inc., until his retirement in 1985. He was a 64-year member of the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the United Methodist Men of the Church and served as a local 4-H leader for a number of years.” (excerpt from Mr. Norris’ obituary from the Cumberland Times News, November 2008)
Mr. Norris was a firm believer in the benefits of higher education. Since both his children were engineers, his wife, Dorothy, chose to fund an engineering scholarship in his name at Frostburg State University giving preference to Allegany County (Maryland) residents.
