Frostburg State University Scholarship Application

The 2025-2026 scholarship application will be opened on December 18, 2024. It will remain open until March 1, 2025, 11:59 p.m. The system will be closed from March 2, 2025 through March 31,2025 while a first round of reviews and awards is being completed. The system will reopen on April 1, 2024 and will remain open until August 1, 2024.

Please note that awards are ongoing and that priority consideration may be given to those who have applied by the March 1st deadline.

There will be some incoming freshmen and transfer student awards made starting in February 2025, so getting in your application by no later than January 31 will ensure you can be considered for those awards.

Once you have completed your application you do not need to go back in to apply again for the same year. If your situation has changed it is recommended that you log in again to revise your application or apply to additional scholarships. Examples of reasons you would want to log back include the following: Change of major, increased GPA at the end of a semester, change of residence, completion of FAFSA form, revision of FAFSA form, etc. When you log back in your changed situation may make it so that additional recommended opportunities show up on your list for you to consider applying to. Many of our scholarships do not require you to apply specifically to them, but instead automatically match you to the scholarships you may be eligible to receive based upon your general application and imported information from PAWS.

Important information you must know in order to submit a Frostburg State University scholarship application:

1. The online application is hosted by Blackbaud Award Management. Blackbaud Award Management officially supports the use of Google Chrome, Mozilla FireFox, and Safari. Please note that Internet Explorer is no longer supported and Microsoft Edge does not work well with the site.

2. It is recommended that you complete the scholarship application on a PC or Mac. The online application may not load properly on a mobile device.

FSU reserves the right to adjust and/or cancel your award if it is subsequently determined that you do not meet the qualifications for the scholarship.

Per the FSU Foundation Board of Directors, no student shall receive grant and/or scholarship aid above the published cost of attendance. Scholarships may be cancelled if it is later determined that your total aid is higher than the cost of attendance.

All scholarships are awarded based on the availability of funds.

These scholarships are for enrollment at Frostburg State University only.

For best consideration, submit a scholarship application annually. If you are receiving a scholarship in the current academic year and feel that you should receive it again next year, be sure to apply again. Renewable scholarships may not be awarded to students who have not applied.

Enrollment status will be evaluated each semester at the end of the drop/add period. If a student receives a scholarship that is based on full-time enrollment and they are not enrolled in at least 12 credits (9 credits for graduate students), the scholarship will be cancelled. No scholarship will be awarded for enrollment below 6 credits per semester.

The minimum grade point average for any award is 2.5 overall. Some awards require higher minimum grade point averages. Recipients are reviewed annually upon awarding.

Before you apply:
1. Read all instructions before starting your application. These instructions are also available on the FSU Financial Aid web page and can be printed or opened in a separate window and used as a reference as you complete your application.

2. You must be admitted to Frostburg State University before applying for scholarships. Once you are admitted, you will receive a notification containing your student ID number and your username and password. This is the information that you will need to log in to the scholarship application.

3. If you wish to be considered for scholarships that are based on financial need, make sure you complete and submit your FAFSA (www.fafsa.gov) by March 1.

4. Enter all pertinent information and answer all questions based on the upcoming academic year (2025-2026) only.

5. Information regarding demographics, GPA, major and degree, class standing, financial need, email, etc., will be imported into the scholarship portal daily from the FSU PAWS user system.

Application Home Page

1. After beginning your scholarship application, you may “Save and Keep Editing” at any time. You may complete or edit your application at any time through 11:59 p.m., EST, on the March 1, 2024 application deadline.

2. If you are unable to complete your application at one time, make sure you save it so that you can resume your application at a later time.

3. Although the essay is not required for all opportunities, for best consideration it is strongly recommended. Please try to limit the essay to one page. Your essay is very important and will be carefully read and scored by the reviewers to determine scholarship recipients. This is how you distinguish yourself from other candidates who may have similar qualifications. It is strongly recommended that you complete the essay offline first, check carefully for spelling and grammar errors, then type or copy and paste your essay into the scholarship application.

4. The final page includes Recommended Opportunities. When you log in and complete the scholarship application, you automatically will be matched to any scholarships for which you are eligible based on your individual information imported from the FSU PAWS system. The recommended opportunities are additional opportunities that you may qualify for based on your individual information. You should review each opportunity and carefully read the description. If you are qualified for the scholarship, click Apply and follow all directions. Some opportunities may require additional essays or documentation, so be sure to submit all necessary information. Apply only to the opportunities for which you are qualified.

5. When you have reviewed the additional opportunities and applied to all for which you are eligible, you may “Finish and Submit” your application and exit the system.
You may update or edit your application at any time until 11:59 p.m., EST, on the March 1, 2025 deadline. You will be notified of any awards via FSU e-mail. Please remember that submitting a scholarship application does not guarantee that you will be selected to receive an award. If you are not selected for an award, you will not be notified.

If you have any questions, please contact Financial Aid.
